The 2024 FIFA The Best Football Awards will take place in January 2025. Votes are cast on the best performers of the calendar year, with performances judged from January 2024 to December 2024 recognised.
The awards were created after FIFA broke away from France Football, who present the Ballon d’Or, to create their own award ceremony.
National team coaches and captains, journalists and fans all cast votes. The awards were created in 2016 with Cristiano Ronaldo named as the first winner of The Best Men’s Player award and Carli Lloyd claiming the women’s equivalent. Lionel Messi and Aitana Bonmatí won the individual awards in 2023.
