2. Bundesliga: KSC leave it late to down Fürth

With the contest seemingly heading for a draw after early goals in each half from Noel Futkeu and Rafael Pinto Pedrosa, late strikes from Shio Fukuda and Fabian Schleusener turned the game on its head to hand KSC all three points in stunning fashion.

The visitors made the perfect start, taking the lead inside five minutes. A scramble in the penalty area saw Dennis Srbeny’s effort parried by Hans Christian Bernat, but only into the path of Futkeu, who calmly tapped into an empty net for his 12th goal of the season - already surpassing last year’s tally with seven games still remaining.

KSC struggled to respond to the early setback and found it difficult to create clear opportunities. Their best chance of the first half came midway through when Marvin Wanitzek picked out Roko Šimić with a cut-back, but the unmarked striker miscued his effort with the goal at his mercy. Fürth held their 1-0 advantage going into the break.

Karlsruhe emerged with far greater intent after half-time and levelled just two minutes into the second period. Dzenis Burnić delivered an inviting cross from the flank, allowing Rafael Pinto Pedrosa to convert from close range.

Christian Eichner’s side continued to press and nearly completed the turnaround with 20 minutes remaining. Substitute Andreas Müller teed up Wanitzek inside the box, but his effort struck the post, leaving the scores level.

As the clock ticked into stoppage time, the match appeared destined to end all square. However, KSC had other ideas. A deep delivery was headed back across goal by Marcel Franke, where substitute Fukuda was perfectly placed to nod home at the far post, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.

There was still time for further gloss, as Fabian Schleusener added a third in the 97th minute with a composed finish to seal an emphatic scoreline.

The result extends Karlsruhe’s unbeaten home run in 2026 and keeps them in eighth place, while Fürth suffer their first defeat in five matches and remain 14th, with teams below them still to play.
