From an RBL perspective, 2025 is drawing to a successful close. After a strong first half of the Bundesliga season, the Red Bulls go into the winter break sitting in a Champions League place – one they’ll be looking to defend in the new year. For now, though, it’s time for a breather – and a look back at the past 12 months. 2025 delivered plenty of highlights for RBL. Here’s part two of our end-of-year review.
Our second home game of the season saw RBL win 3-1 over Köln. The Red Bull Arena crowd were treated to a beautifully worked goal from Rômulo, a perfectly struck direct free-kick from David Raum and a memorable debut from Assan Ouédraogo. The teenager made his first competitive start for RBL and marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for the club.
“Pure joy – nothing else,” Ouédraogo said afterwards. It marked the start of an outstanding run for the young midfielder. He went on to score his first goal for Germany’s senior national team, opened the scoring in the 2-0 win over Bremen with a stunning strike, before then being unfortunately sidelined by injury.

Mid-October brought an emotional day at the Red Bull Arena. Club record appearance maker Yussuf Poulsen returned to Leipzig for the first time since leaving the club, having joined Hamburger SV. Before kick-off, he was honoured for his extraordinary service to the club after 12 years, 425 matches and 95 goals, having been part of the journey from the third division all the way to the Bundesliga.
Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of the RBL supervisory board, said: “Yussi, thank you for an incredible time. You were and remain a leading figure for this club. With your mentality, you threw yourself into so many crucial games and helped shape RB Leipzig into what it is today.”
The RBL fans unveiled a special tifo before kick-off reading: “You were our heart and you will always be our soul.” When Yussi came on in the 79th minute, the stadium erupted. “What happened before and after the game was unique for a footballer,” he said. “I enjoyed every second and will remember this day forever.”
Our seventh straight Bundesliga game without defeat saw the Red Bulls run riot, storming to a 6-0 victory in Augsburg. Six different players found the net: Yan Diomande, Rômulo, Antonio Nusa, Christoph Baumgartner, Assan Ouédraogo and Castello Jr.
Ole Werner summed it up perfectly: “No match is ever flawless, but this was close.”Baumgartner added: “Six different goalscorers shows the depth we have and how many players can contribute. That's important and makes us very hard to predict.”

November’s strong league form saw David Raum, Ridle Baku and, for the first time, Assan Ouédraogo, all rewarded with national team call-ups. Perfect timing, too, as Germany’s home match against Slovakia was played at the Red Bull Arena.
Raum started and delivered a typically solid performance on the left. Baku and Ouédraogo both came off the bench, before both went on to add their names to the scoresheet. Baku made it 5-0, before Assan rounded things off with Germany's sixth. “I’m incredibly proud and unbelievably happy,” Assan said after scoring on his senior international debut.

A 6-0 win is rare enough – but RBL managed it twice in the same half of the season. The second was a real statement, coming in a primetime clash against Eintracht Frankfurt. Under the floodlights on Saturday night, the Red Bulls dazzled and thrilled the home crowd.
Yan Diomande stood out with his first hat-trick in an RBL shirt, while Conrad Harder scored his first Bundesliga goal. Christoph Baumgartner and David Raum were also on the scoresheet, with the captain converting his first penalty for the club. “We had a lot of players delivering outstanding performances,” Raum said. “Yan scored three, others got valuable minutes and were able to showcase themselves. As captain, that makes me very proud.”

December brought another major milestone in RB Leipzig’s off-the-pitch development. The club officially opened its new headquarters at Arenablick 1 – a state-of-the-art, sustainable building with open-plan workspaces for up to 300 employees. Around 600 guests attended the opening, including representatives from the worlds of sport and politics.Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of RB Leipzig e.V. and CEO of Corporate Projects & Investments at Red Bull GmbH, described it as “a deeply moving moment” and spoke of “a working environment that is second to none among Bundesliga clubs”.
Saxony’s Minister-President Michael Kretschmer also praised the project, calling it “a real statement” and underlining the club’s journey: “RB Leipzig are not a football fairytale, but the result of hard, hard work. The club has shown what is possible when you truly believe in yourself.”
