The group stage draw for the first-ever World Cup to be hosted by three countries was made tonight in Washington, DC. Julian Nagelsmann’s side is seeded in Group E of the 2026 World Cup alongside Curaçao, Côte d'Ivoire, and Ecuador. Germany's opening game will be against debutants Curaçao at NRG Stadium, Houston. The four-time champions will play their other games in Toronto and Philadelphia.

Although six places are yet to be determined, with playoff games to be played in March 2026, the draw has been made, with 12 groups consisting of four teams. There will be an additional knockout stage round because of the extended format of the competition.

Germany were knocked out of the group stages in the last two editions after winning the World Cup for the fourth time in 2014. The tournament will kick off with a match between Mexico and South Africa, which is a repeat of the 2010 World Cup.
