Leeds United made an enquiry in the summer for Artem Dovbyk, the £26m Roma forward, who has had an indifferent start in Italy with two goals in 14 appearances, a little over 500 minutes in all competitions.
Pazzi Di Fanta reports that, while he recovers from injury, Dovbyk has not yet been allowed to rejoin the first team and that his stock has taken a nosedive, with an exit now expected.
Leeds’ striker search saw Adam Underwood eventually land Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free, seeing off Newcastle, Man United and Milan, and the striker turned down a huge Fenerbahce offer. Lukas Nmecha had already arrived as the first of 10 signings.
Leeds were also linked with Rodrigo Muniz and Beto. Nikola Krstovic joined Atalanta, and Dovbyk remained at Roma amid talk of a fallout with new boss Gian Piero Gasperini, though he has featured.
January could bring fresh movement if Joel Piroe leaves. Calvert-Lewin has four goals in four Premier League games, with talk of an England call-up, and could match Mark Viduka’s 22-year record on Saturday night. With Nmecha injured and Daniel Farke moving to a 3-5-2, cover up front appears a growing need, and links to Troy Parrott, Joshua Zirkzee and others persist.
