Manchester United will likely spend on another striker when the transfer window reopens this summer.

The Red Devils have misfired up front in the Premier League this season and have netted just 37 goals from 29 games played.

Manager Ruben Amorim may want an upgrade, considering Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to find consistency.

Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are among names under consideration, but neither could be purchased.

The hierarchy may feel that the duo may not provide resale value in future. Their wage demands could be a huge stumbling block too.

On top of this, Gyokeres or Osimhen may not join unless United qualify for the Champions League next term by winning the Europa League.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg now claims that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is another player on the club’s radar for the summer.

In our view, the Frenchman would be a fabulous acquisition due to his young age and immense potential.

Ekitike initially built his reputation as a teenager at Reims, but he went off the boil after his high-profile transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he has found his feet since his move to Frankfurt, initially on a short-term loan.

The 22-year-old has been in brilliant form this campaign. He has netted 19 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions.

The young marksman has outscored RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko (17 goals), who is another name on the Red Devils’ summer wishlist.

Aside from his goal contributions, Ekitike has caught the eye with his off-the-ball work.

He has a tireless work rate and likes to keep opposition defenders busy with his regular movements.

Ekitike has a passing accuracy of 80 percent this campaign. He has completed 1.6 dribbles per outing, with four duels won and 2.5 recoveries.

The Reims graduate has also impressed with his hold-up play. He has all the attributes to become an elite striker in the prime of his career.

United should swoop for the £34 million-rated star this summer to provide strong competition for places to Hojlund and Zirkzee next term.
