Lucas Perri faces uncertainty at Leeds United. Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Torino have placed the out-of-favour Brazilian shot-stopper on their summer wishlist. The Serie A side initially prioritised Paraguay international Orlando Gill. That move collapsed. San Lorenzo pushed his price tag through the roof after his brilliant World Cup campaign, forcing Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi to look elsewhere. Perri is an ideal option for them. He sits on the radar alongside Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

It is a massive headache for the West Yorkshire club. They shelled out £15.6m to sign the former Lyon goalkeeper on a four-year deal last summer, and now he is stuck on the bench. Daniel Farke started him in the opening three Premier League games. Then disaster struck. An unfortunate arm injury completely wrecked his momentum, and he managed just three top-flight appearances in 2026. Things changed fast. His agent spoke about how happy they were in England back in November, but the situation turned sour when veteran Karl Darlow claimed the starting spot.

Performance analysis reveals bleak reading for Leeds United hierarchy

The numbers do not lie. Statistically, the 28-year-old endured a miserable debut campaign in England, leaking 29 goals across his 16 Premier League appearances. He managed a paltry three clean sheets. His lowly 56.7% save percentage ranks him in the lowest percentiles globally.

Elland Road chiefs cannot afford to accept a lowball loan offer from Torino chairman Urbano Cairo. Turning a profit is the priority. Turin is an incredibly volatile place right now, with fans regularly protesting against the club’s ownership. A loan with an option to buy means Perri likely returns next summer with his market value completely tanked. If Leeds want a clean break, they need to demand a permanent fee to recoup that £15.6m outlay.

Losing him on the cheap makes no sense right now. Arsenal already snapped up Illan Meslier on a free transfer. Karl Darlow’s contract is running down. Sanctioning Perri’s exit without a top-tier replacement lined up is incredibly short-sighted, even if scouts are tracking Parma keeper Zion Suzuki. Farke needs to keep the Brazilian as his number two for the upcoming season unless an outright permanent bid arrives from a much more stable European club.
