Gareth Bale has opened up about Zinedine Zidane's methods during Real Madrid's golden era, highlighted by three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018. The former Welsh international described a surprisingly straightforward approach from the French coach.

Speaking on the show Stick to Football, Bale explained that tactical sessions were kept to a minimum.

"For the big games, we just did 15 minutes of tactical work focused on defensive structure, and that was it. The rest was standard training: possession play, small-sided games, shooting, and we’d finish with a match."

According to him, the real key was Zidane's aura and the trust he placed in his senior players.

"Zidane? He didn’t do much in terms of tactics: we did the bare minimum, training, possession games, shooting, and that was it."
