Joshua Quarshie joined Southampton last summer from Hoffenheim
Southampton made a number of signings in the summer transfer window following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Saints appointed Will Still as manager in the hopes that he could guide the club straight back to the top flight.
However, he was sacked in November after a disappointing start to the campaign, with multiple of the team’s arrivals in the off-season struggling to perform.
The Hampshire outfit spent big on the likes of Finn Azaz, Caspar Jander, Tom Fellows, Léo Scienza and Damion Downs, among others.
But it’s been a mixed bag of results so far, with Downs departing in January on loan due to his lack of game time, for example.
Regardless of the outcome of Southampton’s renewed promotion push, the club will be hoping for a better hit rate in the upcoming summer window.

It has been reported by Bild that Joshua Quarshie is being monitored by Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of the upcoming transfer market.
The defender joined the Saints last summer from German club Hoffenheim, but he has struggled for consistent minutes at St. Mary’s.
It’s believed that the Bundesliga side could offer the centre-back a route back to Germany, where he previously enjoyed loan spells at Fortuna Dusseldorf and Greuther Furth.
The 21-year-old played a combined 20 times in the 2. Bundesliga last season across his stints at the two clubs, which led to him signing for Southampton in a deal worth a reported £3.5 million.
It remains to be seen whether the Saints would be willing to let Quarshie depart just one year after he joined the team, but his lack of game time could open the door for a quick exit.
The German has played 13 times in the Championship, with the majority of those appearances coming under Still.
He’s featured on six occasions in the league under Tonda Eckert, with his most recent appearance coming as a late substitute in the 2-0 win over Oxford United in March.
Injuries have hampered his progress in his first year at St. Mary’s, and he has a contract with the Hampshire outfit until June 2029.
Southampton are currently sixth in the Championship table, level on points with seventh place Wrexham.
But next up for Eckert’s side is an FA Cup quarter-final clash at home to Premier League leaders Arsenal on 4 April in an 8pm kick-off.
Quarshie hasn’t had the impact that fans would’ve been hoping for when he arrived from Hoffenheim last summer.
The defender hasn’t been able to nail down a consistent place in the team, and he doesn’t seem to be a major part of Eckert’s plans.
It’s also hard to see him playing more frequently if Southampton do earn promotion to the Premier League for next season.
A move to Frankfurt that can allow the Saints to recoup the £3.5 million paid to sign him might be the best move for all parties at this stage, as he’s at risk of his career stalling at St. Mary’s.
