Things are moving quickly on a number of fronts regarding January transfers at Chelsea.

There are potentially players coming in – but first there’s a focus on players going out.

We’ve heard all about the likes of Cesare Casadei, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Carney Chukwuemeka, all of whom have looked almost certain to go at some points this week

Now we can comfortably add Axel Disasi to the list.

Fabrizio Romano has just given an evening update which says the defender will be left out of Chelsea’s squad tomorrow for the Premier League game against Bournemouth, a sure sign he’s close to agreeing a move away from the club.

This one has moved fast – there have been some whispers for a while, but nothing very concrete. We’re curious who the “important clubs” mentioned by Disasi might be. Juventus have come up as an option in recent weeks, but Romano doesn’t name them.

We’d imagine there is Premier League interest  – Disasi is big and physical, speaks English and is adapted to England and to the league.

It’s obvious that he’s not in Enzo Maresca’s plans – even with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana injured, Disasi has found himself behind Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong in the list of players to partner Levi Colwill in defence. This also seems to set the stage for a Trevoh Chalobah return from loan.

If it wasn’t for his ability to play at right back (to a not very high standard) Disasi would have had even fewer appearances this season. After being a regular for Mauricio Pochettino for most of last season, his stock has continually fallen and now it makes sense for everyone to move him on.
