Hughes was the Bournemouth technical director when Tyler Adams arrived from Leeds in 2023.
And now according to a report in TEAMtalk Liverpool are among the top English teams seeking a deal for the United States international this summer.
“Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all actively monitoring Adams’ situation at the Vitality Stadium,” the report reads.
“The trio of Premier League giants view the American as a potentially strong tactical fit for their respective midfield setups, thanks to his renowned energy, defensive tenacity, ball-winning ability, and proven experience in England’s top division.”
Adams is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until 2028 - meaning he could be available for an affordable price at the end of the current campaign.
“The Cherries could be open to offers in the region of £45million,” the report reads.
Tyler Adams remains a central figure for Bournemouth and the USMNT, but his situation is dominated by injury management and medium‑term durability concerns.
Role and form
When fit, Adams is Bournemouth’s key defensive midfielder, valued for intensity, ball‑winning and his ability to cover ground and organise pressing. After missing most of 2023‑24 with hamstring and back issues, he put together a strong run in 2025‑26, starting the vast majority of Bournemouth’s early league games and even chipping in with a couple of high‑profile goals.
Contract and recent context
Bournemouth signed him from Leeds in 2023 for an initial fee in the region of £23m plus add‑ons, on a five‑year deal to 2028. Wages are in the £55–60k‑per‑week bracket, solidly mid‑table Premier League money and reflective of his status as a core starter when available.
Fitness, value and future
Adams suffered a torn MCL in December 2025, ruling him out for around two to three months and interrupting his best run of club form in years. Bournemouth still see him as “massive” for their structure, and with his contract length and age, any serious bidder would likely need to be in the £30–40m conversation once he proves his fitness over a sustained spell.
