49ers have no interest in Rangers succeeding, only in filling their pockets

As we reported earlier, Rangers board continue to back Russell Martin to the hilt, with unconfirmed reports claiming that Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell threatened the club with resignation in the event of Martin’s dismissal. Rangers owned by capitalists, unfortunately.

Unsavoury

It is safe to say Rangers are in the clutches, again, of unsavoury chancers, and for all supporters who loathed the Mike Ashley era, the 49ers era is exactly the same so far.

Americans and sports ventures always go this way. Think the Glazers at Man Utd, the toxic Kyle Fox attempt at Rangers. They want the cash, the money, and they see football clubs in the UK as an easy way to make it.

Americans are capitalists – first thing the 49ers did was shut down AGMs, with Ibrox Noise protesting that vociferously, but as usual we were met by handwringing justifications of why this was the right move.

Doesn’t look so right now, does it?

Capitalists

These capitalists want to profit from Rangers – they’ve barely said a word to the media, and generally keep completely away from the spotlight.

Don’t forget the losses Leeds Utd posted for two years after the 49ers secured full ownership there. Why? Because investor profit is more important than success. Daniel Farke kept his job and somehow got his team into the Premier League anyway, where their record for the season is much the same as Rangers. Four matches, one win, two defeats.

In short terms, these guys are in it for themselves, not the good of Rangers, or indeed Leeds.

Joe Rothwell

We ended up with Joe Rothwell because of these guys, because of the links – another dismal signing Ibrox Noise argued against hugely.

So where does this all leave Rangers?

Total limbo. The club will not end up in administration, there’s too much cash behind it for that, but if we thought we’d previously been through pain, well, here we go yet again. Rangers owned by capitalists, sadly.

Russell Martin appears untouchable.
