Mexico completed a perfect group stage by winning all three matches and advancing confidently to the next round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Throughout that run, Chivas players played leading roles and produced numbers that highlight the outstanding form currently enjoyed by the Rebaño Sagrado.
Here are five facts you need to know about the Rojiblancos’ performances.

In addition to his tireless work rate, Alvarado recorded two assists, while Rangel delivered a flawless performance by keeping a clean sheet in all three matches.
3. Javier Aguirre Placed His Full Trust in the Rojiblancos
The importance of Chivas players was also reflected in the coaching staff’s decisions. Roberto Alvarado and Raúl Rangel were two of only three Mexican players to start all three group-stage matches, demonstrating the complete confidence that Javier Aguirre placed in them.
4. Chivas Players Contributed to Four of Mexico’s Goals
The Rebaño’s attacking contribution proved decisive in El Tri’s perfect group-stage campaign. Altogether, Rojiblancoswere directly involved in four goals: Luis Romo scored once and added an assist, while Roberto Alvarado registered two assists.
As a result, Romo and Alvarado became the only Liga MX players to be directly involved in two goals each during the group stage.
