According to spl.com.sa, the FIFA Club World Cup begins later this week in the United States, with Al Hilal representing the RSL.
Runners-up in 2022 in Morocco, the Riyadh club now face Real Madrid, CF Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg.
Salem Al Dawsari, 33, remains the headline act, famed for his winner against Argentina at the 2022 World Cup. He posted 15 goals and 15 assists in the RSL, led the league for assists, and was named the season’s best Saudi.
Ruben Neves sets Al Hilal’s tempo. He completed 2,086 league passes, most in the RSL despite eight games missed through injury, and contributed eight assists.
Musab Al Juwayr, 21, announced himself in 2022 by burying the decisive penalty against Wydad Casablanca. After two loan seasons at Al Shabab, he delivered five goals and 10 assists, swept the monthly young player awards, then won Best Young Player.
Marcos Leonardo, 22, justified his move from Benfica with 17 RSL goals and 25 in all competitions, including the AFC Champions League Elite and King’s Cup. He deputised for the injured Aleksandar Mitrovic and helped sustain the title push before a runners-up finish to Al Ittihad.
Hassan Al Tambakti, 26, rose to prominence in Saudi Arabia’s win over Argentina at the last World Cup. He may slot into Simone Inzaghi’s likely back three, a shape he already knows from Roberto Mancini’s national team.
Ali Al Bulayhi brings edge, from confronting Lionel Messi to needling Cristiano Ronaldo, and excels at set-pieces, balloon celebration included.
