Liverpool have got their eyes on Yan Diomande - RB Leipzig’s new rising star.

Diomande, 19, has been a revelation in the Bundesliga since swapping Leganes for Leipzig last summer. Under contract until 2030 - and with no release clause - the Ivorian international has been one of the biggest sensations of the German season.

It’s not taken long for Diomande to be linked with bigger clubs. A price tag of £87m has been levied against the winger - who can play either left or right - and plenty of Premier League clubs are said to be interested.

Liverpool - as well as Tottenham and Manchester United - are said to be ready to compete with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for one of the game’s brightest forward prospects.

The Reds may well have an advantage with Diomande recently admitting that he had a long-held dream to play at Anfield. Whether that translates into significant transfer action - with Richard Hughes seeking wingers next summer - remains to be seen.

In the meantime the Premier League title-holders can take even MORE encouragement from the latest goings on at the Red Bull Arena.

Sky in Germany are reporting that a failure to land Champions League football could see RB conduct another big-money clear-out.

Last summer they generated plenty of cash through the sales of Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons - among others. Those deals safeguarded against the financial implications of missing Champions League football.

And you can expect Ole Werner’s side to be active on the outgoings this year too if history repeats. Sky states that even making it into the Champions League will see the club needing at least one big-money sale.

Diomande, Castello Lukeba and perhaps Antonio Nusa are Red Bull’s most bankable assets ahead of the summer window.

Liverpool now know they can test RB’s resolve over Diomande no matter the outcome of the German side’s season. It’s very much on for the Reds to land one of the most exciting teenage talents around.
