Rodri hasn’t played for Manchester City since their 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium at the beginning of November. He has missed City’s past six matches as he continues his bid to return to full fitness. It has been a frustrating time for the Spanish international as he simply cannot get a sustained spell of matches into his legs.

Manchester City take on Sunderland on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium in what looks like it will be a tough fixture against a physical, well-managed, and in-form opponent. City will have to beat Sunderland without Rodri as Pep Guardiola has ruled him out of Saturday’s match.

The frustration continues for Rodri.

With Rodri now ruled out of Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Sunderland, the frustration of being unable to get on the pitch will continue for the Spanish midfielder. He has not been able to get minutes into his legs to return to full fitness and rediscover his form. This season has been a battle for Rodri as he continues to deal with the aftermath of sustaining such a serious injury last season. There is no set timeline for his return and there is nothing to be gained from bringing him back before he is ready. Fortunately, Manchester City have Nico who has stepped up this season so it isn’t all doom and gloom for Pep Guardiola’s side.
