A new pitch at the Red Bull Arena

Weeks of growing to come after week of work

We're using the summer break to renew the pitch at the Red Bull Arena. The goal of this process is to be as well-prepared as possible for the demands of the upcoming season – which will bring domestic and European matches for our Red Bulls, home matches for FC Liefering, and the UEFA Super Cup Final.

Hybrid fibres remain, natural grass installed

The work began the day after the last match of the season, last Monday. Specifically, the existing natural turf (approximately 250 cubic meters) is being milled out, and the subsoil being refilled with fresh material and a turf-supporting layer. The aim is to level out any existing unevenness and ensure a sufficiently permeable subsoil. The existing approximately five percent synthetic fibres of the hybrid turf, which has been in place in the arena since October 2025, will remain in the ground.

The work will take approximately one week, at the end of which the pitch will be reseeded, giving the natural grass sufficient time to grow in before the first home game at the Red Bull Arena (at the end of July at the earliest).

Last season alone, the Red Bull Arena hosted around 50 matches. We want to create the best possible conditions on and off the pitch at our Red Bull Arena for the new season. Therefore, we are using this relatively short break to get our pitch in top condition and ensure the highest quality.
