Aasgaard equalises as Dundee Utd start with draw against Rangers

Dundee Utd drew 1-1 with Rangers at Tannadice on Friday night as both sides began their Scottish Premiership campaigns with a point.

In the 38th minute, Lachlan Rose converted Jesse Randall's cross to put United ahead.

Rangers introduced Dan Neill and Youssef Chermiti at the break. Jack Walton then tipped over Thelo Aasgaard's drive (51.), before Aasgaard swept in the equaliser (56.).

Bert Esselink went off injured, with Iurie Iovu coming on (62.). United later brought on Daniel Bennie (70.). Aasgaard fired wide (79.). Ivor Pandur saved from Randall (84.) and Idjessi Metsoko (90.), while Walton denied Chermiti (89.).

Rangers tallied 21 attempts and 10 corners, with 55.1% possession. United produced 11 attempts and five corners, and Walton made six saves.

Next, United visit Hearts in the Premiership. Rangers travel to Jagiellonia in the Europa League.
