AC Milan confirm Allegri exit in sweeping club shake-up | OneFootball

AC Milan have sacked head coach Massimiliano Allegri following a disappointing end to the Serie A season that saw the club miss out on Champions League qualification.

A 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari on the final day proved decisive, as the Rossoneri slipped to fifth place in the table, finishing one point behind Como and settling for a Europa League spot instead. The result capped off a poor run of form in the closing weeks of the campaign, with Allegri unable to steady the ship when it mattered most.

The 58-year-old departs after a second spell in charge, having overseen 42 matches, recording 22 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats. Milan spent much of the season in the top two and briefly looked capable of challenging for the Scudetto, but a late collapse ultimately cost them dearly.

Alongside Allegri, the club also confirmed the departures of CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada as part of a wider restructuring.

In an official statement, Milan described the season as a “failure” and said “profound change” was now required after a disappointing finish that fell short of expectations across the board.
