Leeds United Women are back in Adobe Women’s FA Cup action this weekend, making the visit to Huddersfield Town Women for a West Yorkshire derby in the second round proper.
The Whites were last in action in the FA WNL Cup second round, taking tier-above West Bromwich Albion Women to penalties but losing narrowly, after Alice Hughes’ opener was cancelled out by the hosts.
Simon Wood’s side have already faced the Terriers this campaign, running out 1-0 victors after Amy Woodruff struck into the back of the net with five minutes of normal time remaining, cutting inside from the left wing and beating a defender before slotting home, leaving Davies rooted.
To progress to the second round proper, Leeds defeated FC St Helens Women 5-1 at Garforth. Kath Smith scored a penalty to have the Whites 1-0 up at the break, and a brace from Brittany Sanderson, lob from Sian Gibrill-Keating, and top-corner finish from Chloe Dixon, all in the second half, condemned St Helens to defeat.
Huddersfield on the other hand, beat Wythenshawe Women 4-2 to advance, after Louise Biggins and Hannah Burgess both scored first half braces to secure the win.
Action from the Stafflex Arena gets underway at 2pm.
