HLN are reporting that Genk are looking to sign Tobias Lawal from LASK Linz. The 25-year-old is a full Austrian international and club captain for LASK, but Genk are reportedly at an advanced stage of negotiations with the Austrian side. Their first choice had been to get Mike Penders back from Chelsea on loan, but the Premier League club do not want Penders to go back to Genk for the 2025/2026 campaign.

Lawal came through the LASK youth academy before making his senior debut for the first team in 2019. He became the sides first choice during the 2023/2024 campaign, where he made 42 appearances across the Bundesliga and Europa League. Last year he played 18 games in the Bundesliga, keeping an impressive eight clean sheets. An injury to start the year meant he missed out on a few months of the season, making a return in February to reclaim the number one spot.
