Serie A side Juventus sold Nicolo Savona to Nottingham Forest in the summer. The player’s agent has now spoken to TuttoJuve, revealing that there was interest from Manchester City.

The right-back’s exit handed the Bianconeri a major capital profit, with Nottingham Forest also having signed Douglas Luiz.

Savona’s agent Michele Puglisi spoke to TJ and when asked about how the move to the Tricky Trees came about, he said:

“Nicolò had just renewed his contract with the club, and there was a desire to continue this relationship. Juventus, very honestly, told us they would evaluate any offer received during the transfer window. This had always left doors open.

“The Premier League was certainly one that continued to show interest in him. In recent days, as usual, things have been able to unblock more quickly, and we resumed contact with Nottingham. And the moment we realized there was a possibility, that’s when it happened.”

He revealed that Nottingham Forest came calling for the Italian quite early in the window.

Yes, it was a club that had already inquired about the situation in the previous months. The injury at the Club World Cup, while not serious, didn’t help and somewhat slowed down the interest of other teams.

“Everyone involved knew his recovery time and that it was therefore a situation that could be resolved in a few weeks, but Nicolò trained separately, didn’t play in the friendlies, and didn’t go to Germany. This didn’t help matters in terms of timing, but it’s done now. The management has been very good.”

When asked about interest from Manchester City, Puglisi said: “City asked for information, there had been some contact and they have reiterated their esteem for him. Then I don’t know if we can talk about a possibility or not.”

The agent was also asked about how the right-back is settling in at Nottingham Forest.

He stated: “He’s enthusiastic, he started training at full capacity this week and is preparing for the match against a very important opponent like Arsenal. He’s happy with this opportunity and knows how valuable it is. He’s taken to this new experience very quickly, calmly and with a great desire to embark on this new journey. Now he’s playing in the most important league in the world, which is a sign of great satisfaction on his part. He’s eager to test himself and achieve new goals, he’s on the right path and everything is going well.”

Savona had impressed in parts last season and also showed his versatility. New Forest manager Ange Postecoglou has shown that he is a fan of multi-functional players and this can prove key for the Italian this season.
