It has been reported recently that one of Ecuador’s most promising talents, Ederson Castillo, is in Barcelona. The youngster is undergoing a trial at the club and will be here for a few days.
In the backdrop, his agent Peter Graetzer is also in Barcelona ahead of a potential meeting between him and the club, Mundo Deportivo reports.
The agent confirmed his presence in the city by posting a story on his Instagram account. He appeared to be near Barcelona’s training facilities at Ciutat Esportiva.
Graetzer is expected to play a key role in this entire transfer saga, considering the fact that Barcelona must compete with the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht in the race to sign the young midfielder.
Aged just 17, Castillo is making waves in his native Ecuador, having already made six competitive appearances for his club, LDU Quito.
A strong presence in the middle of the park, Castillo is often compared to Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo.
This has put Barcelona on high alert, as the club look to strengthen their youth ranks with an eye on the future.
Castillo certainly has the talent, but Barcelona would have to compete with some of the biggest clubs in Europe in order to acquire his services. It also remains to be seen whether or not the youngster can impress the Barcelona coaches during his trial.
Should he impress, Barça are expected to go all out in signing the youngster, who is valued at just €3 million, making him an affordable target for the club.
But with intense competition, the meeting with Graetzer could be pivotal as they look to convince the agent of the prospects offered by La Masia.
