As we enter September, the League Two season is well and truly in full swing, with many clubs already enduring mixed fortunes in comparison to their end-of-season aims.

The fourth-tier is so often an underrated division among the wider scope of football fans, yet in the early weeks of this campaign, it is proving as unpredictable and as exciting as ever.

The division is home to two former Premier League sides and an array of experienced players and managers who have previously earned their stripes further up the pyramid.

However, squads are now settled for at least an upcoming four-month period following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

With that being said, Football League World, enlisted the help of AI-based Chatbot, ChatGPT, to predict the final standings with the window closed until January, and here are the results.

Starting off this prediction, AI believes that Newport County's spell in the EFL, which has lasted since 2013, will come to an end by finishing rock bottom of the fourth-tier and the overall '92'.

The Exiles ended last season in abysmal fashion with just five points from a possible 36, and haven't started the current campaign any better, proving exactly why they were among the relegation picks for EFL pundits and onlookers.

23 Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town are the side currently propping up the EFL after taking just four points from 24 available thus far, and AI believes they will only climb up to 23rd between now and the end of the season.

This comes in spite of a takeover by previous Burnley owner, Mike Garlick, last month, with the new chairman still believing Michael Flynn is the man to turn the club's fortunes around after a disastrous period following relegation from League One two seasons ago.

22 Shrewsbury Town

It has been an equally as disastrous start to the season for Shrewsbury Town in what is Michael Appleton's first full season in charge at Croud Meadow.

After finishing bottom of League One, acquiring the likes of Tom Anderson, Anthony Scully and Sam Clucas as experienced heads has made little difference thus far, with AI predicting the Shropshire side to narrowly preserve their EFL status amid continued talks of a takeover in the background.

21 Barrow

Barrow currently find themselves 21st in the table, and that is where AI believes the Cumbrian side will finish come May.

Andy Whing was able to steady the ship following his move from Solihull Moors in January, and has since added a wealth of experience and quality to the Bluebirds' ranks in the form of Tom Barkhuizen, Jack Earing, Tyler Walker and Rekeem Harper among many others.

Another side which AI believes will finish in its current position is Accrington Stanley, who currently sit in 20th despite being among many people's picks for relegation to the National League.

The Lancashire side chalked up their first win of the season against Colchester United last time out, and John Doolan will be hoping to build some momentum in order to prove the skeptics wrong.

19 Crawley Town

Crawley Town put up a strong fight against the drop in League One last term, although AI believes the Sussex side will finish 19th in their first season back in the fourth-tier.

The Red Devils lost key midfielder Scott Fraser to Reading but have also added plenty of experience to their squad under Scott Lindsay, with the likes of Harry McKirdy, who is already among the division's top scorers following his move from Bromley on a one-year deal.

Although it is a slight improvement on last season's finish, many Tranmere Rovers supporters will hope AI's prediction of 18th isn't the end outcome for the season.

The Whites were able to stave off relegation after going on a strong end-of-season run under Andy Crosby, although they have endured a rather mixed start to the current campaign during his first full season in charge at Prenton Park despite the goalscoring exploits of Omari Patrick.

After seven years outside the EFL, consolidation is the main aim for Barnet, with AI predicting a 17th-place finish for last season's National League title winners.

It is also Dean Brennan's first taste of management in the EFL, with the Bees bringing in a plethora of new signings such as Scott High, Romoney Crichlow and Oli Hawkins to help bolster their ranks.

The newly-promoted side have made a respectable return to the fourth-tier so far, already on a double-figure points total.

16 Colchester United

Colchester United were among a cluster of sides vying for a play-off spot in the final weeks of last season, meaning it would represent an underwhelming campaign for the U's to finish 16th this time around.

With Danny Cowley in charge, the Essex side have a proven head coach at the level, although the club didn't have the most active of transfer windows.

AI has also taken into account the stuttering start the club have had to the campaign, which has been extremely draw-heavy.

AI believes Fleetwood Town will drop one place in comparison to last term, ending this season in 15th.

Pete Wild has a mixed record in charge of the Cod Army thus far in terms of victories and defeats, with more of the same expected despite the slightly better start the club are enjoying at present and the experienced striking additions of Ched Evans and James Norwood.
