QPR have won just one major in their 143-year history, that being the League Cup in 1966, the same year the England men's national team won their only major trophy.

It would then therefore be fair to suggest that life supporting QPR for fans of this and the last generation hasn't been particularly successful.

The West London club has spent the majority of its history hopping between the top three tiers, never dropping below that, and has spent a combined seven seasons in the Premier League since its rebranding in 1992.

In the current day, R's fans will be hopeful of a return to the top flight for the first time since 2015, in what looks to be a wide-open battle in the second tier this year.

ChatGPT estimates Queens Park Rangers will win a major trophy between 2030 and 2035

Asking AI chatbot ChatGPT to predict when QPR will next win a trophy, it said, 'I’d estimate QPR might next win a major trophy sometime between 2030 and 2035, under favourable conditions'.

AI further goes into detail explaining its prediction, stating, 'Given that history, the club is not currently showing signs of being immediate title contenders in a 'major' trophy sense (top national cups or top league). Instead, they would likely need to build up over several seasons.'

ChatGPT then begins to list bullet points of timeframes, detailing scenarios that would have to happen for QPR to next win a major trophy.

It put:

  • Short to medium term (3–7 years): More likely success would come via the EFL Cup or FA Cup (if a favourable draw), rather than winning the Championship or Premier League immediately.
  • Medium to longer term (7–15 years): If the club stabilises, invests wisely, and manages to reach the top flight and compete, one might imagine a real shot at a major trophy in that window.
  • Optimistic scenario: If everything aligns (good ownership, strong managers, recruitment, infrastructure), one might hope for a shot at a domestic cup within, say, 5–10 years.

Should QPR continue to lay strong foundations and do everything right off the pitch, AI predicts that they will win a major trophy within the next 3–7 years, which, given the gap between the Premier League clubs and Championship clubs, seems hard to believe.

Queens Park Rangers have looked promising under Julien Stephan despite early struggles

Having drawn their opening match of the season 1-1 at home to Preston North End, in what was manager Julien Stephan's first professional game in charge, the R's lost their next three matches in all competitions.

This included a 3-2 away defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup, despite winning 2-0, and a humiliating 7-1 defeat away to free-scoring Coventry City.

Pressure was piling on Stephan despite being so early into his tenure in West London, but they since emphatically responded, winning four out of their next six matches, with the other two being draws, taking them into the play-off places.

However, a 2-1 home defeat to London rivals Millwall over the weekend has seen the R's drop down the Championship table, in what is proving to be a tightly contested table.

Ahead of the midweek round of fixtures, QPR sit just three points off of third-place Stoke City, with one win potentially shooting them up eight places in the table.

Up next is a midweek away fixture to Swansea City, where Stephan will be hoping to return to winning ways and get his team back on track for a play-off place.
