Ajax could enter race for Barcelona winger to replace PSG-bound attacker | OneFootball

According to SPORT, AFC Ajax could emerge as a serious contender for FC Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji if they complete the sale of Mika Godts to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Dutch club are preparing for a busy end to the transfer window and could once again do business with Barcelona after already signing Marc-Andre ter Stegen on loan.

Ajax’s immediate focus is Godts, with PSG having already seen a €50 million bid rejected. The Eredivisie giants are holding out for a higher fee, although the Belgian winger has already agreed personal terms with the French champions.

If the transfer is completed, Ajax plan to reinvest the funds into strengthening their squad. Their top priority remains Noa Lang from Napoli, but Bardghji has also emerged as a potential target.

While Ajax had previously ruled out a move because Barcelona preferred a permanent transfer over a loan, the expected financial boost from a Godts sale could change that stance.

Meanwhile, another Barcelona youngster, Jofre Torrents, is still expected to join Ajax on loan.

Barcelona want a sale, not a loan

Bardghji’s future is expected to be resolved in the coming days. The Swedish winger would prefer a loan move that would allow him to return to Barcelona next season.

However, the Catalan club are pushing for a permanent sale that includes a buy-back clause, allowing them to retain long-term control over the player while generating an immediate profit from an asset they signed for just around €3 million.

Bardghji has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers during pre-season, with Hansi Flick reportedly pleased by his freshness and attacking quality.

Despite that, the German coach has made it clear that regular minutes will be difficult to come by following the arrivals of Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon.

As such, both player and club agree that the best solution is for Bardghji to move somewhere he can play consistently.

His representatives are now assessing projects that would guarantee significant playing time while fitting Barcelona’s preferred transfer structure of a permanent deal with a buy-back option.

Several clubs keen

Interest in Bardghji remains strong across Europe. Premier League clubs continue to monitor the Swedish youngster, although none have yet presented a proposal that would allow Barcelona to retain future control through a buy-back clause.

In France, Marseille remain interested, while opportunities could also emerge in Spain if other transfer moves create space at a Champions League club.

The Blaugrana have already had opportunities to move Bardghji earlier this summer, but both the club and the player opted to wait for the right project.

As things stand, a decision is expected soon, with the winger likely to have a new club by next week following Barcelona’s friendly in Italy.
