Sevilla’s recruitment planning is shaped by the battle to stay up, and Akor Adams has become pivotal since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. He has seven goals and four assists, with four of those strikes in 2026.

His form nears Lukebakio’s influence last season, and he is likely to be central to Sevilla’s summer shop window.

While Adams is the present, Nemanja Gudelj embodies resilience. On Sunday against Rayo Vallecano he reached 250 official games, moving past Brazilian Renato to fifth among Sevilla’s foreign appearance-makers. Since 2019 he has grown from midfield option to versatile captain vital in the dressing room.

He has often dropped into central defence during crises. According to Diario de Sevilla, after Jesús Navas’s retirement his influence as a guide for younger players has increased. He has also expressed a desire to remain in a city he now calls home.

Whether he continues could hinge on ownership changes, with Sergio Ramos and Five Eleven Capital potentially arriving and reshaping the sporting structure. His deal expires in June, and Zona Mixta reports that although he is 30 matches short of Ignacio Achúcarro’s record, a renewal remains in the balance.

Even so, Gudelj will stay a regular under Matías Almeyda for the 11 league games left as Sevilla chase safety before market moves. The combination of Adams’s finishing and the captains’ defensive authority could be decisive in resetting for 2026/2027.
