Premier League legend Alan Shearer has had his say on the Club World Cup, and had a word of warning for Chelsea.

The Blues are preparing to take on Paris Saint Germain at the Met-Life Stadium in New York in a bid to become world champions.

It’s not a surprise to see PSG in the showpiece event, but before the tournament started not many would have expected Chelsea to make the final.

Enzo Maresca deserves huge credit for the job he’s done, and a season which has seen Chelsea return to the Champions League and win the Conference League could end with another trophy.

The Blues have gone from strength to strength throughout the tournament, and defeat to Flamengo meant Chelsea ended up in the opposite side of the draw to the likes of PSG and Real Madrid.

Chelsea are one game away from becoming world champions.

Chelsea have beaten Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminense in the knockout stages, whilst PSG have beaten Inter Miami, Bayern Munich and Madrid.

PSG is the biggest test possible and Frank Leboeuf has admitted he’s scared for Chelsea, whilst Shearer has also had his say.

“It’s gonna be a cracking final isn’t it, two best teams in the tournament, I guess,” Shearer told The Rest is Football podcast

“There’s no doubt PSG will be favourite I think but Chelsea have improved massively as well as we said the other day. So it’ll be a good final.”

It should be a great final, but Shearer also had a clear message for Chelsea ahead of their game against the Champions League winners.

“If they go head to head and match them then I can see another result like Real Madrid, but if they are savvy and clever and sit and try to hit them on the break and soak up pressure then I would think they are in with a chance,” he added.

“But the form and confidence of PSG is pretty scary. From October onwards they’ve been the best team by an absolute mile haven’t they, anywhere.”
