Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 17 games

Artikelbild:Albion’s Second Tier Season Comparison – 17 games

More frustration for the Baggies as chances go begging and a game that should have been won long before Blues scored ended up as a draw. It leaves Ryan Mason’s team in 17th place but remarkably only five points outside the top six.

Although the criticism of Mason will persist in some quarters, there is little that can be put on his shoulders for this result. Isaac Price put in a tremendous shift but made poor decisions at two key moments which cost Albion a good on each occasion; Mikey Johnston was once again Albion’s most dangerous player but it was he that conceded a silly free kick from which Blues scored.

Special mention should go to George Campbell who I thought put in a superb defensive performance while Aune Heggebø worked tirelessly once again and was unfortunate not to get a few more decisions from the referee, including a penalty shout in the second half.

For me, Albion aren’t far away from getting back on track, but victory on Saturday against Swansea City looks increasingly important.
