Corinthians midfielder Alex Santana has begun his fitness transition and joined parts of training after a right knee injury, the club said.
The 31-year-old sustained the knock during a session at CT Joaquim Grava and was left out against Bahia, Athletico Paranaense and Internacional.
Despite resuming work on the grass, he will not face Internacional on Thursday. He will continue his recovery with a view to being available to Fernando Diniz for Sunday’s meeting with Red Bull Bragantino.
In 2026, Santana has featured only twice for Corinthians. He spent much of the year away from the first team under Dorival Júnior after returning from a loan at Grêmio, then was reintegrated when Diniz arrived in April.
Although back in matchday squads, chances have been limited. His last competitive outing was on 3 May, a 2-1 defeat to Mirassol at Estádio Campos Maia in the 14th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Since then he has played only a friendly, a 1-1 draw with FC Cascavel during the World Cup pause, at Estádio Olímpico Regional on 12 July.
Signed in 2024 from Athletico-PR for about two million euros, approximately R$ 12 million at the time, Santana has made 39 appearances, 17 starts and scored two goals. He was part of the squad that won the Campeonato Paulista in 2025.
