Manchester United are aiming to bolster their midfield this summer to build on their highly encouraging third-place finish in the league this season.
Numerous reliable outlets suggest the club are on the cusp of sealing a deal for Atalanta’s Brazilian star Ederson.
The Red Devils also look likely to make a move for Mateus Fernandes after West Ham United were relegated to the Championship.
United are also exploring the possibility of bringing in a third midfielder should Manuel Ugarte leave, and marquee names such as Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba and Aurélien Tchouaméni have been frequently mentioned in the press.
Michael Carrick’s side have also been linked to AFC Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
The England midfielder has been left out of the Three Lions’ World Cup squad but has had a wonderful season in the league as the Cherries incredibly secured Europa League football for next season.
The Red Devils were linked to the midfielder back in December as he reportedly impressed former head coach Ruben Amorim.
United have also continued to monitor the 22-year-old’s progress this season and Michael Carrick is also said to be a fan of the player.
As a result, it has been suggested that United may be keen to ramp up their interest in the Englishman this summer.
News out of Bournemouth may make this scenario seem increasingly unlikely, though.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has posted on X that, “Bournemouth have already offered new deal to Alex Scott as they want the midfielder to stay.”
There is a “clear desire by new manager Marco Rose” that Scott stays and he is “seen as a crucial player.”
