Alexander Isak as new number 9 and Hugo Ekitike signed as back up – Needs to be Newcastle United statement

I see that media are linking Hugo Ekitike with Newcastle United once again, if that actually happened and he came in as a back up for Isak, then great, if though we sold Alexander Isak and Ekitike was a replacement, I’d be fuming.
Be great if we got Hugo Ekitike ahead of the Scousers AND said Alexander Isak isn’t for sale.
About time we flexed our muscles and acted like a proper title contender.
Which means you buy to strengthen and don’t sell your best players to anyone, especially not title rivals.
We need to start acting like the big club we are and be genuine rivals to the likes of Liverpool.
Our turnover is growing, we are not in the PSR mess we were last summer, a new ground is likely in the next five years, which would be transformative in terms of revenue generation.
A lot of our fans have been weighed down by the Mike Ashley years and let’s be honest, have a bit of an inferiority complex from that and the decades and decades before.
So they think we can never compete long-term with the likes of Liverpool or Manchester United etc.
Times are changing though.
Just look where Man U finished last year and the struggles they are having getting deals over the line now, as their financial situation and issues deepen. Also, didn’t I see them linked with Vardy FFS? Another couple of years without Champions League football and that house built on sand could come tumbling down.
We can and should be competing regularly for titles and despite the Premier League and the cartel’s best efforts, our ace up our sleeve – that is Eddie Howe, is proving a hard juggernaut for them to stop.
I think I am right in saying that only three clubs have accumulated more Premier League points since Eddie took the reins at Newcastle United – that’s amazing from where he started and shouldn’t be overlooked!
It will get easier as the squad improves and the revenues increase and the investment in the academy starts to bear fruit.
We are on the right track, so start believing, that first trophy will be a catalyst for further success.
Newcastle United are slowly but surely building a better academy and can start to gain profit from that in the coming years.
A statement to the football World right now would be announcing Alexander Isak is our new Number 9 (as Callum Wilson has left) and then signing a back up striker like Hugo Etikike (ED: Pictured above at Reims, when Newcastle United originally tried to sign him back in 2022) or similar, to give us some strength in depth.
I look at our fixture list and yes we have a tough start, but if you look to April and May, only one game against a potential/likely title rival and we beat them three times last season!
It is a title winning run-in if you ask me!
Start getting some swagger and confidence lads, like those delusional red Mancs still somehow have – that’ll change in 12 months time I reckon when they realise this slump is here for keeps and the cash is fast running out!
Howay the lads – Let’s see how this summer plays out, interesting times ahead…
