Alexander Isak has moved to deny a new Liverpool claim. This comes after he got just 20 minutes for Sweden against Kosovo.

Alexander Isak has been the talk of football for a little while now. His move from Newcastle United to Liverpool rocked the game - a new British transfer record as the Swede forced through one of the biggest transfers ever.

But with Isak making the move right at the deadline, we’ve spent the last nearly-two-weeks in an international break. It means his first words and first appearance since the move have come with his national team.

And that first appearance was somewhat strange. Isak featured for just 20 minutes as Sweden fell 2-0 to Kosovo in a shock result.

That brought about a few claims about Liverpool and the striker has now moved to deny them.

Alexander Isak denies Liverpool claim

Isak was asked this week whether Liverpool had requested limited minutes while he was away with Sweden. Essentially, the suggestion is that the Reds didn't want any risks given his lack of overall gametime.

The striker wasn't involved with Newcastle United's pre-season games, after all, let alone their actual Premier League fixtures. Isak is in a remarkably similar situation to Federico Chiesa a year ago, in fact - he can't possibly be 100 per cent fit.

Isak, though, says he certainly hasn't heard that Liverpool requested Sweden to limit his minutes in the break.

"It took 20 minutes and it felt okay," he told journalists. "Not that I know of [did Liverpool request limited minutes].
