Alexandra Popp, the former Germany Women’s captain, will join Borussia Dortmund at the start of next season after signing a three-year contract. According to BuLi News, she will arrive as a free agent at the end of the season.
Popp, 34, retired from international football in September 2024 yet remains among only five players to reach double figures this season.

Dortmund’s women currently compete in Regionalliga West, the third tier. Only the top side earns a place in the 2. Bundesliga promotion play-off, with Dortmund battling Köln II for first.
She hopes to help the club achieve a first-ever promotion to the Frauen-Bundesliga.
The three-time Germany Women’s Footballer of the Year spent 14 years with VfL Wolfsburg.
