Manchester United could be forced into bringing in attacking reinforcements before the January transfer window slams shut.
The Red Devils were among the sides competing for Antoine Semenyo, and they fought till the bitter end but the Ghanaian chose to move to Manchester City instead.
While Ruben Amorim begged for further signings, INEOS made it clear that with none of their top targets likely to jump ship in the middle of the season, it was unlikely they would be strengthening this month.
That enraged the Portuguese tactician who chose to get himself sacked. Michael Carrick has come in as caretaker till the end of the season, and has started with a bang.
That has impressed the hierarchy, who have since softened their stance, and met with the legendary midfielder to discuss potential deals.
Joshua Zirkzee, who is currently injured, is a target for Serie A sides. While AS Roma have admitted defeat, Juventus have not.
Should the Dutchman‘s opportunities continue to be limited, a late exit cannot be ruled out. Which is why the 20-time English league champions have identified an alternative.
Vitória Guimarães striker Alioune Ndoye has been earmarked as a player to watch out for, with plenty of top European clubs chasing the Senegalese as per SportsBoom.
The 24-year-old has three goals in 2026, including the winner in the Taça da Liga final, to hand Vitória their first piece of silverware in over 12 years.
Apart from the Red Devils, Barcelona, Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, and Marseille are all interested in the former Servette FC marksman.
“Several top European clubs are eyeing Vitória Guimarães striker Alioune Ndoye. Clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United, and Marseille are interested in the Senegalese forward.
“Last week, scouts from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona, Premier League side Manchester United, Championship club Leicester City, Bundesliga teams Dortmund and Wolfsburg, and French Ligue 1 outfit Marseille were reportedly in Leiria, giving them a close-up look at the striker in action.
“However, his representative insists a winter move is unlikely as Ndoye continues to impress in the Primeira Liga.”
While a winter move has been ruled out, it is unlikely that United will move for Alioune Ndoye next summer unless he explodes in the second half of the season. A midfield signing is more likely at this stage of the window.
