Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker could return against Crystal Palace this weekend.

The Brazil international has missed the last threePremier League games with a hamstring injury, including last weekend's Merseyside Derby win at Everton, which saw replacement Giorgi Mamardashvili suffer a knee issue.

Third-choice Freddie Woodman was introduced as a substitute to make his Liverpool league debut, and firstPremier League appearance in five years.

Woodman had been expected to start against Palace this weekend, but Slot has confirmed Alisson is unexpectedly back in contention.

The Dutchman revealed that Mamardashvili is facing 'weeks' on the sideline with his issue.

"No Giorgi [Mamardashvili] will definitely not be available tomorrow and not for the upcoming weeks," Slot said at hispre-match press conference.

"Alli [Alisson] is close to returning to play. Let's see if tomorrow comes too early.

"That leaves Freddie [Woodman] as an option who is definitely fit. There is a reason we have signed an experienced third goalkeeper.

"Usually you don't need him that much, but there could be situations if one [goalkeeper] is injured and one gets suspended. That makes more sense than two goalkeepers being injured.

"Apart from him being a good goalkeeper, which he has shown. When he was young, he won the Euros with the under-17s and the under-20s he won the World Cup.

"He has the experience to play either in the Premier League, but definitely at Championship level. Apart from that, he is a very good man and very light in the dressing room."
