Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has given his thoughts ahead of his clash with Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, and has given his opinion on the current situation surrounding talisman Mohamed Salah, who will not feature in San Siro.
Inter host Liverpool in the sixth round of Champions League league phase fixtures on Tuesday night. The Nerazzurri are level with PSG in second place, as well as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Only Arsenal (on 15 points) have a better tally than Inter’s 12 as things stand.
Liverpool have struggled to replicate their title-winning form in the early stages of 2025-26, and are now dealing with off-pitch controversies following Mohamed Salah’s post-match rant on Saturday and his subsequent omission from the club’s Champions League squad.
Alisson, speaking to Sky Sport Italia, has given his full support to Salah, but insists that the players who have travelled are solely focussed on getting back to winning ways against Inter on Tuesday night.
“I’m always pleased to be back here in Italy in a special place like this,” Alisson said, dusting off the Italian he picked up during his time in Italy with Roma. “Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of playing in places like this and against big teams like Inter.

“It’s true we’re not coming off a good run of form as a team. We’re getting poor results and aren’t playing as well as we should, but we’re confident that we will get back to doing well soon, and we hope to do so as early as tomorrow night.”
Alisson was asked if he has noticed any difference between the Inter side coached by Simone Inzaghi and this current one that is led by Cristian Chivu.
“It’s very different, but they always have that hunger, a desire to win and fight. They always have quality, that hasn’t changed, in fact they have more, and we know that this is the biggest challenge for us at the moment.

“Facing a team like this when you’re going through a moment like we are is difficult, but we’re focussed, have our heads down and will try to win with all due respect to Inter. What we want is to win.”
Alisson was then asked for his verdict on the current situation surrounding talisman Mohamed Salah, who has been left at home following his post-match outburst after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds over the weekend.
“When it happens, this situation is never easy,” Alisson said. “Salah has the love of everyone in the dressing room, and the fans. But it’s a situation between him and the club and we are currently focussed on Inter, which is our biggest challenge.

“I’m sorry because Salah is a great player for Liverpool. I have a great relationship with him and I feel sorry for him personally. But we are here with the goal to beat a great team.”
And does Alisson feel that the relationship between Salah and the club is amendable?
“I think so, you can always recover. I hope so for his sake, given everything he has done for the club and what the club has done for him: Bringing him to Liverpool and winning everything. I think that’s what will happen and I hope so.”
