We named and ranked the best striker of all 24 Championship clubs.
With the new Championship season now underway, it is already shaping up to be another exciting campaign in the second tier.
Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton are all back in the Championship after their relegations from the Premier League last season, while Birmingham City, Wrexham and Charlton Athletic have also returned to the division after winning promotion from League One.
Whether a club has promotion aspirations or is simply aiming to avoid relegation, having a striker who is capable of putting the ball in the back of the net is crucial, and with prolific number nines becoming increasingly hard to find, they are often the most expensive players on the market.
As the early Championship table continues to take shape and new stars begin to emerge, we named and ranked the best strikers of all 24 second tier clubs.
A summer of off-field turmoil has left Sheffield Wednesday with arguably the weakest forward line in the division, but Bailey Cadamarteri has
shown real promise in the early weeks of the new season.
While Cadamarteri still has plenty of room for improvement, he has performed well for the Owls in the Championship previously, while he also scored eight goals in 31 games during a loan spell at Lincoln City in League One last season, and he was recently called up to the Jamaica senior squad for the first time.
The lack of a prolific striker has been a problem for Watford in recent years, but they will be hoping that Luca Kjerrumgaard, who arrived on loan from sister club Udinese this summer, can be the man to fire them up the table.
Kjerrumgaard had an impressive record for former club Odense Boldklub, where he scored 26 goals in just 48 games, and while he will need time to adapt to the Championship, the early signs have been positive.
Mark Harris was the main man for Oxford United last season as they secured survival in the Championship, but it looks as though Tottenham Hotspur loanee Will Lankshear could be the one to provide the goals for Gary Rowett's side this time around.
Lankshear failed to score during an underwhelming loan spell at West Bromwich Albion last season, but he has already made a much bigger impact at the Kassam Stadium, and he will only improve as he gains more senior experience.
Like Lankshear, Divin Mubama was another Premier League youngster to head out on loan to the Championship this summer as he joined Stoke City from Manchester City.
Mubama has been given the responsibility of leading the line for the Potters this season, and having already scored some crucial goals for Mark Robins' side during the opening weeks of the campaign, it looks like the 20-year-old could be set for a big year at the bet365 Stadium.
Matty Godden joined Charlton Athletic from Coventry City last summer, and he scored 22 goals in 49 games during a stunning debut season at The Valley to help the club to promotion back to the Championship following a five-year absence.
The Addicks have splashed out big money on the likes of Isaac Olaofe and Charlie Kelman this summer, but Godden should still be their first-choice striker once he returns from injury, and his second tier experience will be vital for Nathan Jones' men.
Despite the many valid criticisms of the club's board, Blackburn Rovers do have a habit of unearthing gems in the transfer market, and the signing of striker Yuki Ohashi from Sanfrecce Hiroshima last summer was another success for the recruitment team.
Ohashi scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 38 appearances for Rovers last season, and with a full year of Championship football now under his belt, he will be hoping to record even better numbers this time around.
Zan Vipotnik joined Swansea City on a free transfer from Bordeaux last summer, and while he did not have the most prolific season, he still managed to end his first year in South Wales with seven goals in 44 appearances.
The Swans have just paid an initial fee of £6 million to sign Adam Idah from Celtic, which could put Vipotnik's place under threat, but the 23-year-old has been in good form at the start of the season, and he deserves to be given a proper run in the team.
Leicester City completed the loan signing of striker Julian Carranza from Feyenoord on deadline day, but as it remains to be seen how he will perform in the Championship, Jordan Ayew is arguably the best of their existing options.
Ayew has never been the most prolific striker, but he was one of the Foxes' better performers last season as he scored five goals in 35 appearances following his move from Crystal Palace, and he will be hoping to significantly improve on that tally in the year ahead.
New signing Aune Heggebo has been West Brom's first-choice striker in the early stages of the season, but while he has become something of a forgotten man in recent months, Josh Maja is still the best finisher at the club.
Maja has been plagued by injury since his arrival at The Hawthorns from Bordeaux two years ago, but he scored 12 goals in 26 games during an outstanding first half of last season, and he will be keen to rediscover that form now he is back to full fitness.
Despite strong competition for his signature from the likes of Preston North End, Swansea City, Leicester City, Toulouse and Celtic, Queens Park Rangers won the race to sign Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone this summer, with the club paying a fee of around £2.75 million for the 22-year-old.
Kone scored 18 goals in 41 games for Wycombe in League One last season to earn his move to Loftus Road, and on the basis of his impressive start to his R's career, it looks as though he could be similarly prolific in the Championship.
