Allan was sent off for an obscene gesture in the second half of Corinthians’ 3-1 defeat to Fluminense at the Maracanã on Wednesday night, in the ninth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. He will miss Sunday’s game against Internacional at Neo Química Arena.

He tangled with Lucho Acosta and, after repeatedly slapping the opponent’s arm, was booked. According to Globo.com, a VAR review led referee Davi De Oliveira Lacerda to find he had grabbed his genitals and shaken them towards Serna, prompting a red card.

In his press conference, head coach Dorival Júnior condemned the behaviour, said a stance had to be taken and that he did not agree with it. He added Allan knew he was wrong, the team were penalised by losing an important player, and the matter would be addressed.

Matheus Bidu also misses the next match after receiving his third yellow card. The left-back was cautioned for a first-half foul on Samuel Xavier.

Corinthians are winless in eight matches, six of them in the league, and have 10 points in 11th place.
