Álvaro Odriozola suffers ACL rupture, Real Sociedad defender out for the season | OneFootball

Álvaro Odriozola has sustained a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season. According to Superdeporte, the Real Sociedad defender was injured against Real Oviedo.

He came on in the 54th minute for Aramburu at Anoeta, then left the pitch in the 56th after twisting his left knee as the stadium fell quiet.

Medical tests at Policlínica Gipuzkoa, carried out by the club’s medical staff, have confirmed the extent of the damage.

At 30, Odriozola first broke through at Real Sociedad, became a Spain international and joined Real Madrid for 32 million euros. After spells with Bayern and Fiorentina, he returned to the club in 2023.

His first major setback was a fractured clavicle in 2019, followed by repeated knee and muscular problems, particularly in the thigh. The date for his knee surgery will be set in the coming days.
