Amar Dedić did not feature for Benfica at Tondela, despite travelling with the squad, as the Liga match finished 0-0.
According to Glorioso 1904, the right-back was left out of the matchday squad with a left thigh muscle overload and did not make the bench. It was his second consecutive league game not starting.
With Dedić absent, Banjaqui came into the XI for a second straight Liga start. A week earlier he supplied the assist for Anísio Cabral against Estrela da Amadora.
José Mourinho’s side began brighter but struggled to impose themselves. Around the half-hour, a Benfica penalty was overturned by VAR, leaving it 0-0 at the break.
After the interval Benfica increased the pressure and penned Tondela back, yet Cristiano Bacci’s team held firm and the scoreline did not change. The draw leaves Benfica third on 46 points and further from second place.
Benfica host Alverca on Sunday 8 February at Estádio da Luz at 20:30 in the 21st round of the Liga Portugal Betclic. This season Dedić, valued at 15 million euros, has played 32 matches across all competitions, totalling 2,728 minutes with one goal and three assists. His appearances include 15 in the league, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.
