Ruben Amorim has given an explanation as to how Milan will be operating in the transfer window under their new senior management team and has explained why the club decided to invest a record fee on new centre-forward Goncalo Ramos.
Amorim is the new head coach of Milan, appointed as the successor to Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed along with sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani back in May.
The Rossoneri have since restructured their senior management team, which now features Massimo Calvelli, Hendrik Almstadt and Bobby Gardiner in the roles of CEO, director of player trading and director of football intelligence respectively.

And though the appointment of Amorim was confirmed back in June, the new era at Milan begins today, as the coach and owner, Gerry Cardinale, sat down to discuss the project in front of the press for the first time.
While fielding questions from the media during his introductory press conference, Amorim was asked if new centre-forward Ramos has been brought in to play alongside Rafael Leao in attack.
Amorim refused to comment on Leao’s future, but did give an explanation as to why Milan chose Ramos and how the club will be making their decisions on new signings in the future.
“I don’t want to talk about individual players, but I can talk about Goncalo Ramos because he’s a new player, because we brought him into the team with a lot of money and I can explain why we chose him,” Amorim began.

“We did that job as a team. I am the person who gives the profile to the team, and they find the best players available in that position. That will be the type of work we are going to do here. It is not the manager who chooses the name, I choose the profile and then follow the scouting.
“We believe a lot in Goncalo Ramos, in the last (World Cup) game against Croatia, he scored against a low block with a lot of defenders on top of him. If you see games in Italy, sometimes it is like that, the teams defend really well, and he’s able to score against low blocks, he’s able to score in transitions.
“One of the aspects that is really important to me with Goncalo Ramos is that if you see him playing five minutes or from the start, it’s the same player. With Goncalo Ramos, it is all about the team, then if we want to press high, we need a striker who can do that work. You see him play five minutes, you know he will follow the defenders everywhere.
“It is more than a player, it is a message to show that we want a guy that believes in the team, and I am really happy that it was really fast. That was a sign also that there is belief in what I am trying to do here.”
And on Leao, Amorim added: “Rafael Leao played really well in the World Cup, he is our player, I am really happy with our team, so I am a happy coach.”
