Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen on offloading one struggling Red when the window reopens this summer – but that’s not to say the player will be on board with the prospect.

Indeed, the Manchester United head coach is said to be drawing up long-term squad plans without Andre Onana between the sticks due to the goalkeeper’s catalogue of costly errors he’s accumulated since his move in 2023.

To begin with, fans were perhaps slightly more lenient in allowing him time to transition to the English top flight while also playing the way Erik ten Hag intended. Then, when Onana became notorious for frequently committing howlers in such high-stakes matches, questions started being asked about his suitability for the role.

He remains Amorim’s first-choice between the sticks, though that may only be down to the fact Altay Bayindir has been sidelined with an injury setback for several weeks.

According to Manchester Evening News, Amorim ‘wants to sign’ a new shot-stopper this year despite Onana’s contract running until 2028. However, the Cameroonian is ‘intent’ on staying put at Old Trafford and ‘considers United to be the only club he wishes to play for’.

The 28-year-old spent five years in Barcelona’s youth ranks from 2010 to 2015 before leaving without making his first-team bow for the La Liga giants. In his senior career, he has represented only Ajax and Inter Milan, the latter of which he stayed for only one season before the Red Devils came knocking.

One thing’s for sure: the board would struggle to find a suitor willing to pay anywhere near the £47.9 million fee they forked out for him.
