Yann-Aurel Bisseck's story hasn't always been a simple one: the defender has had to overcome different difficulties, sometimes having to start again from zero. Since his arrival at Inter, however, Yann has developed new aspects of himself, growing a lot on and off the pitch: a development that has led to his contract extension until 2029. Throughout his first 14 months here, Bisseck has experienced a wide range of emotions: first times, special wins, important goals and trophies.
Yann's career started a long time before this, however: Bisseck was born in Cologne on 29 November 2000, to Cameroonian parents. As a child he dreamed of becoming a heart-surgeon: even though his ability on the pitch was evident from a young age. In 2017, he made his debut with Cologne at just 16 years and 11 months of age against Hertha Berlin, becoming the youngest debutant from Germany in the history of the Bundesliga: after an exciting start he was sent on loan to Holstein Keil, then Roda JC in the Netherlands and then Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal, experiences that were blighted by various injuries.
In 2021, Yann made the move to Aarhus in Denmark, where he found some great continuity in his displays: his performances caught the attention of Inter in the summer of 2023. Bisseck immediately stood out thanks to his stature: an imposing presence at 196cm tall. The young defender found himself in a completely new and unknown territory: Inter and the Italian league represented a demanding challenge. He made his Inter debut in the season opener of the Serie A 2023/24 season: playing six minutes during stoppage time against Monza.
From that moment, an impressive and unstoppable growth started to take place: Yann began playing with more continuity and was the key man in a number of solid performances, demonstrating great ability in the build-up phases. His first goal for Inter came on 23 December in the home game against Lecce, a perfect header putting the Nerazzurri ahead. It wasn't the only goal, the German's goal in the direct clash against Bologna became a hallmark of Simone Inzaghi's football, as Yann scored the decisive goal thanks to a cross from Bastoni, from one of the back three to another.
It was an unforgettable season for Bisseck, as he won his first professional trophies: the Italian Super Cup, and the Scudetto for the Second Star. The year allowed for Yann to be in the hearts of Inter fans, who gave him the nickname of Bisteccone.
His development is still taking place: at the start of his second season for Inter, Bisseck has shown an ability to play different roles in the back-three, playing on the right and left with brilliant results, standing out on Champions League nights against Manchester City and Arsenal.
In total, Yann has played 32 times for Inter, scoring twice: his Inter adventure started just over a year ago, but this contract extension shows that this story is destined to continue.
