Manchester United must decide whether to press ahead with a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, according to the Daily Mail.

They agreed a fee of £35 million plus £3.8m in add-ons with the Serie A club in June to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

However, an initial medical check has raised concerns. The Red Devils conducted tests on Ederson while he was on international duty with Brazil at the World Cup.

Man United insisted on extra checks and are planning to hold a further round of medical with the Brazilian international.

The deal could go through if the Atalanta midfielder passes his medical, but nothing is guaranteed. The Red Devils could return to the transfer market for a replacement.

Man United are close to signing Chelsea’s Andrey Santos for £48m after he completed a medical.

However, the 22-year-old is not an alternative to Ederson, and both Brazilians could be signed if the club are satisfied with the test results.

The Chelsea midfielder is set to become their first signing of the summer.

Wales international goalkeeper Karl Darlow is also set to join them and is currently undergoing a medical.

United also want to strengthen in other areas, with a left-back and left-sided attacker on their radar as manager Michael Carrick looks to hit the ground running when the new season kicks off.
