Anatoliy Trubin called for renewed focus after Benfica’s 0-0 draw at Tondela, voicing disappointment only days after the statement win over Real Madrid. He remains one of José Mourinho’s undisputed starters this season.

According to Glorioso 1904, the goalkeeper wrote on Instagram that football can be unpredictable, that a draw is never a good result for him or the team, and that now is the time to stay focused and work hard.

He had been the hero against Real Madrid, venturing forward to score in stoppage time and keep Benfica in the Champions League. In the 20th round at Tondela he faced little danger, but Benfica could not find a breakthrough and were held by the league’s second-bottom side.

Former Ukraine goalkeeper Mykhailo Burch, 65, believes Trubin should consider leaving Benfica for Spanish football before weighing up a move to the Premier League.

This season the 24-year-old is valued at €28 million and has started 34 competitive matches for Benfica, 18 in the league, 12 in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,015 minutes he has conceded 26 goals.
