Real Madrid maintained pressure on Barcelona at the top of the table thanks to a 3-2 win over Celta Vigo.

While Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show for his two goals, another player who impressed onlookers was Arda Guler.

Starting the game in light of Rodrygo’s fitness woes, Guler delivered an outstanding performance against Vigo.

Guler opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a stunning strike, capitalizing on a pass from Lucas Vazquez. He also provided an assist for one of Mbappe’s two goals.

Apart from his goals and assists, Guler was a livewire in the final third. He was spot on with his passing as well, making him one of the top performers for Real Madrid against Celta.

Will Guler start against Barcelona?

Speaking to the media after the game, Ancelotti dropped a big hint about Guler and his potential place in the starting eleven against Barcelona next weekend.

First up, the Italian tactician heaped praise on the Turkish sensation for his performance against Celta Vigo, notably admitting that he has improved since September.

“Arda Güler has changed since September. He works hard, never loses the ball and always has confidence,” he said (h/t ESPN). Ancelotti went on to admit, “Arda Guler could start in El Clasico”

This is a huge vote of confidence coming from the Real Madrid manager, who has been strict with Guler ever since his move to Santiago Bernabeu.

A start against Barcelona could make sense as Rodrygo has been enduring fitness woes. Guler, therefore, could be an ideal attacking partner for Mbappe and Vinicius in the final third.

It will be a glorious opportunity for the former Fenerbahce starlet to showcase his talents at a bigger stage at Montjuic and prove himself ahead of a potential managerial takeover in the summer.
