Carlo Ancelotti expressed satisfaction after Real Madrid’s commanding victory over Butarque, highlighting the team’s strong performance from start to finish.
The Italian coach appreciated the solid, focused, and compact display, reinforcing the positive momentum carried forward from their match against Osasuna.
Ancelotti acknowledged that things were progressing well, and the team showed significant promise.
“We have confirmed the good feelings we showed against Osasuna. The team played a good game from start to finish, being solid, focused and compact. Things are going well,” he began saying.

One of the key talking points was the positioning of Kylian Mbappe on the left wing. Ancelotti explained that this choice was based on Mbappe’s familiarity with the role and his readiness to contribute.
“He is more used to playing there and today, for the team and for him, it was the best. Because playing outside is more tiring and Vinicius had returned on Thursday.”
Given Vinicius Jr.’s recent return and Mbappe’s fresher condition after extended training, the decision made tactical sense.
“Meanwhile, Kylian had been training here for a week and a half, he was fresher. He did very, very well. And he scored, after a fantastic assist from Vinicius. Little by little, both are improving,” explained the manager.
Mbappe not only performed admirably but also managed to score, benefiting from Vinicius’s impressive assist. The duo’s chemistry is steadily improving, showcasing their potential as a dynamic partnership.

Arda Guler also caught the coach’s attention for his creative contributions in the attacking third. Guler came close to scoring and displayed a complete game, reflecting the high demands of the current squad setup.
“He has added creativity in the final third and has been close to scoring goals. His game has been completed. The demand at the moment is very high and we need everyone. It is important to be able to count on them.”
Ancelotti highlighted the importance of every player’s involvement, praising Ceballos and Camavinga for their effective partnership in midfield.
“When the team plays well, it is because everyone has contributed. Ceballos in the double pivot with Camavinga, too. And Arda, yes.”

Looking ahead to the match at Anfield, the right-back position was a subject of discussion. While Lucas Vazquez and Aurelien Tchouameni remain uncertain due to fitness concerns, Federico Valverde emerged as a viable option.
“Lucas and Tchouameni… we don’t know, but we’ll try to get them back. The truth is that Fede, at the back, did very well. As did Asencio, who played a very serious game, played with maturity,” said the manager
Valverde impressed in the role, combining speed and defensive acumen. Ancelotti described him as a top-tier full-back, capable of excelling in multiple positions, though this versatility often presents a challenge in determining his ideal placement for the team.
“After Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, he’s the best right-back in the world. His problem is that he can play at this level in many positions and the coach’s problem is choosing his best position for the team.
The coach addressed concerns about sidelining Valverde in midfield, citing the depth in that area. Camavinga’s form, Ceballos’ solid display, and Modric’s consistent excellence provide a strong foundation, allowing flexibility in tactical decisions.
“It’s something I have to think about. We are well covered in the middle because Camavinga is at his best, Ceballos has played a very complete game and we also have Modric, who always does very well.
“It’s an assessment I’ll have to make when I know if we can get someone back,” he explained.

Lastly, Ancelotti clarified Ferland Mendy’s recent substitutions, attributing them to tactical choices rather than injury.
Fran Garcia’s impressive form has earned him opportunities, but Mendy remains crucial for upcoming matches.
“They are technical decisions. Nothing more. Fran is playing very well now, but Mendy will be very important on Wednesday.”
Meanwhile, Asencio’s seamless adaptation and maturity also stood out, underscoring the club’s effective development of young talent.
“I was surprised in the sense that he is very mature. I don’t see any concern or concern in him. He is always very well-positioned. This means that the youth team has done a very good job with him,” he concluded.
Real Madrid’s focus remains on maintaining their winning streak while effectively utilising their versatile squad.
