Andoni Iraola is reportedly close to accepting an offer to become Crystal Palace’s next head coach.
Iraola will leave Bournemouth when his contract expires in the summer and the Spaniard has been linked with various roles.
Athletic Bilbao had been named an option before the recent appointment of Edin Terzic, while both Manchester United and Chelsea are understood to have considered Iraola for vacant roles.
According to Spanish journalist Marcos Benito, Iraola is ready to accept Palace’s proposal to replace Oliver Glasner. The latter will walk away from the Eagles in the summer and Iraola has been identified as the ideal successor.
Iraola has won plaudit for his work at Bournemouth, where he’s overseen progress despite repetitive sales of key players. This season, the Cherries are fighting for a place in Europe and currently sit sixth, a position that could secure Champions League football.
Palace are understood to have tabled a lucrative offer to Iraola, in what would be considered a major coup.
The South Londoners lifted the FA Cup last season and are well-positioned to reach the Europa Conference League final, ahead of tonight’s semi-final second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk. Victory in that competition would deliver Europa League football for next season.
