Wolves have confirmed midfielder Andre has signed a new four-year contract, surprising many with the club set for the Championship next season.

The 2024 signing, who cost £18.5m, had already hinted in April on a gaming platform that he could happily stay for several years and that he loved the club.

Rob Edwards and chairman Nathan Shi said he had been in talks to remain, and technical director Matt Jackson described him as a man of his word.

Supporters reacted with shock, some wondering how the club pulled it off, others calling it the strangest twist of the season and a major statement.

The announcement comes days after former striker Raul Jimenez indicated he could return, and it is understood there have been early conversations between the club and the forward over a possible move.

Wolves have also held talks with out-of-contract Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier. The 35-year-old is set to become a free agent in the coming weeks when his deal expires, with a summer rebuild expected.
